Book Week #7:Although i haven't even started reading this book yet, i'm going to predict what i think is going to happen. The back of the book talks about how this girl names Jean is an abusive relationship with her boyfriend. She has a 10 year old daughter,Griff, and decides that its time to leave. They have no where to go besides Wyoming where Jeans ex father in law lives. 10 year old Griff knows none of this. Im assuming that she and her mom Jean move to Wyoming to live with her grandfather that she doesn't even know exists, along with his crippled friend Mitch. Just from reading the back of the book i can already get the impression that Griff feels like she doesn't belong anywhere and doesn't have a real home. Im curious to know whether or not she ends up being content with her dysfunctional life.

Article of the week #7: Using technology for school has down and upsides. One upside is that is prepares you for the real world where you will have to be using technology in pretty much every profession, now. It helps student's gain skills and knowledge for future jobs they will have. I think its also good because it might motivate students to do their work.
According to the article, using technology in school doesn't help improve math and reading skills though. The study also showed that there wasn't a difference in test scores between a student with technology and one without. Another downside the article mentioned was that all of this equipment costs money. In 2015 the use of classroom technology will cost upwards of $4.7 million dollars. That's a lot of money for supplying things that don't even officially help students succeed more in school. Personally i think all schools should be one to one even though the article mentions this. If every student is given the opportunity to have a chromebook for example, it could do lots of good. Choice #7:If you have ever gone through a tough time in your life, continue reading.
All throughout life we are faced with different obstacles and hurtles we have to go jump over. Our different pasts are one of the many reasons we are unique as people. We all have a story unlike the person sitting next to us. Some of us have easy upbringings while others do not. Its this huge circle of similarities and differences that connect us all together. No matter what we go through in life, we are all expected to be successful, productive humans in society. Isn't that what we all want deep down? We all want to be somebody. We all want to be recognized for the things we have done. Personally i feel conflicted. Why don't we all get a fair shot at life? None of us can control it, but only some of us get an advantage. There's some food for thought for you. Choice Week 6:Evolution: the process by which different kinds of living organisms are thought to have developed and diversified from earlier forms during the history of the earth.
Creation: the bringing into of existence of the universe, especially when regarded as an act of God. The argument between evolutionist and creationist has been on going for years and i don't think that its going to ever end. Each side believes in something that is totally different from the other. In school, we have to learn about evolution in science class, But we don't learn about creation. Why is that? I honestly feel like if we're going to learn about one side, then we should have an opportunity to learn about the other. Although learning about creation involves talking about God in school, i feel like it should still be mentioned. This is a really cut and dry sort of thing. You are either on one side completely, or on the other. There is no in between's. Whether you are an evolutionist or creationist has a lot to do with how you were raised, i think. I also think that these should be your personal views and there shouldn't be protests about it. You shouldn't try to push your views on to other people. Book week #6:Although i just started reading this book by Sue Monk Kidd, it has struck a big interest in me. I'm on page 15 and its already one of the most engaging things i have ever read, but in the most bizarre way considering what the book is about. Its being told in the perspective of the slave and the slave owner which is very peculiar, i think. The book describes the life of a slave in morbid detail. Personally, i find it to be disturbing that our country actually let these things legally go on for so many years, then led to have a civil war over it. I have so many questions from only the first portion of this book that will probably never be answered. How could you treat another human being in such a cruel way? I don't think i will ever be able to figure it out. The way the book describes the life of the slave owner is intriguing because it shows how it is on the other side of things.
Book Week 5;This is the page of the book where everything is finally starting to make more sense. If you have ever seen the movie "Me and Earl and the dying girl" this is the most important part. One of Rachel's friends came up with the idea for Greg to make a film for Rachel since she loves them so much. She thought it might make her feel better since she is very sick in the hospital. Greg agrees but is hesitant about the idea since he only is really being Rachel's friend anyways because he was forced into it. I think he actually has a crush on her though and just doesn't want to admit it due to what happened between them as kids. Greg's grades are starting to drop since his ability to focus just isn't there because of Rachel. He is constantly stressed about this outside of school which i can personally relate to. This page of the book is the turning point. It helps to connect everything you previously read and also leaves you guessing about what might happen next. Will Greg end up making the film???
